A little bit about me... I'm Lauren Haffling the women behind the show.
I am a 24 years old rug designer, artist, and founder of August Rugs. I received my BFA in Fine Art from Moravian University where I fell in love with tufting. I did an abundance of drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture, but always found myself coming back to fiber art. I started my tufting journey when I decided to dive head first and teach myself how to tuft. For my senior thesis show, my first ever rug I designed and hand made was a 7ft by 8ft rug. The process of my work is very intuitive and felt. A meditative physical experience, whereby an abundance of line, pattern, color, and texture culminate in a visual topography. I thrill to push the boundaries of non-traditional rugs and experiment new designs with my tufting guns. Bridging the space between fine art and interior design.
